Research, IA & EE Mentorship

Structured Academic Guidance for Research-Based Assessment

Research-based coursework, such as IAs and Extended Essays, requires a very different skill set from exam preparation. Students must plan, question, analyse, evaluate, and communicate their thinking clearly and academically.

JF Smart Learning provides ethical, structured mentorship to support students through this demanding process.

Who This Programme Is For

This programme is designed for:

  • IB Diploma students
  • Students completing extended investigations or research projects
  • Learners who need guidance with structure, methodology, or evaluation
  • Students who want to improve the quality of their academic thinking and writing

What We Support

Our mentorship focuses on the process of research, not writing work for students.

Support may include:

  • Refining research topics and questions
  • Designing appropriate methodologies
  • Planning data collection and analysis
  • Interpreting results and identifying limitations
  • Developing strong evaluation and reflection
  • Improving academic writing and clarity

All feedback is examiner-informed and ethical.

How Our Mentorship Works

Mentorship is typically delivered:

  • One-to-one
  • Over a defined period of time
  • With clear goals for each stage of the research process

Sessions are structured and purposeful, helping students move forward with confidence while maintaining academic integrity.

Our Ethical Approach

We do not:

  • Write coursework for students
  • Edit work line-by-line
  • Provide model answers to copy

Instead, we:

  • Ask the right questions
  • Give strategic, high-level feedback
  • Help students understand expectations and criteria

This ensures students develop genuine understanding — and submit work that is authentically their own.
